Welcome to Class 5. Here you can find out about what Class 5 are up to, the work we are covering in class and any trips or events we are taking part in.

Curriculum Information

This term our RE topics are, New Life, Called and God's People.  Please talk to children about the work they are covering in this very important subject.

First Holy Communion

There will be a parish celebration for the First Holy Communion children on 11th June at 10am in St. Mary's Church.  If children could dress up as they did for their First Holy Communion, they will be presented to the Parish community.

The children will be covering a range of texts this term to enhance their knowledge and understanding of the English language. The children will be exploring report writing and instructions. We will be exploring a novel as a class..

The children will be given a number of spellings to learn each week and will be tested every Friday morning. Please work with your children throughout the week to ensure the best possible results.

Your child should bring home their reading book everyday and we ask that you spend time reading and talking to your child about their book.

Your help in both these matters is much appreciated.

Every Thursday as part of BIG MATHS your child will undertake a couple of weekly tests. These tests will be sent home for you to look at and see how your child is progressing.

One very easy way you can help your child is by encouraging them to learn their tables.

Please talk to your child about the work they are undertaking in class.

This term our topic is entitled Global Gourmet. This topic has a food design and technology focus and teaches children about different food types from around the World, fair trade and the importance of eating a healthy diet for well being.

PE & Games

This year we will have PE on a Thursday and Games on a  Friday. Please ensure your child comes into school wearing their uniform and has with them an appropriate change of clothing for these lessons.

Your children will receive both Maths and English homework. This is to be completed and returned to class by the following Wednesday. Please support us as a school in helping to ensure your child has the best educational experiences.

If you have any concerns please do contact the school to arrange a meeting with myself.
