Welcome to Class 6. Here you can find out about what Class 6 are up to, the work we are covering in class and any trips or events we are taking part in.

Curriculum Information

This half-term our RE topics are Community and Giving and Receiving. Please talk to children about the work they are covering in this very important subject.

First Holy Communion

The children in year 3 will have the opportunity to make their First Reconciliation and Holy Communion this year.

The children will be covering a range of texts this term to enhance their knowledge and understanding of the English language. The children will be exploring a variety of stories with familiar settings and writing recounts.

The children will be given a number of spellings to learn each week and will be tested every Friday morning. Please work with your children throughout the week to ensure the best possible results.

Your child should bring home their reading book everyday and we ask that you spend time reading and talking to your child about their book.

Your help in both these matters is much appreciated.

Every Thursday as part of BIG MATHS your child will undertake a couple of weekly tests. These tests will be sent home for you to look at and see how your child is progressing.

One very easy way you can help your child is by encouraging them to learn their tables.

Please talk to your child about the work they are undertaking in class.

This term our topic is entitled Dream of a Druid. This project has a history focus that teaches the children about the Iron Age Celts and how the Celtic culture established itself in Wales. The children will read, re-tell and write Celtic myths and legends and create their own. The children will also learn additional skills of recording and recounting historical information using a range of historical source materials.

PE & Games

This year we will have PE on a Monday and Games on a Friday. Please ensure your child comes into school wearing their uniform and has with them an appropriate change of clothing for these lessons.

Your children will receive both Maths, English and topic related homework. This is to be completed and returned to class by the following Wednesday. Please support us as a school in helping to ensure your child has the best educational experiences.

If you would like to discuss any aspect of school life with me or a senior member of staff please contact the school to arrange a meeting.
