Reading books should be brought to school every day.
Tuesday - PE Kit. This session takes place in the hall and is led by Mr Lewis, a specialist sports coach from Superstars. Pupils should bring either shorts or tracksuit bottoms/leggings and a t-shirt.
Wednesday - Homework deadline
Friday - Games kit. As children will walk to Sophia Gardens, every other week, appropriate clothing is essential :t-shirt (not vests), warm sweatshirt, jogging bottoms or leggings and trainers. A water proof jacket is also needed. Children are welcome to bring a plastic bottle of water.
Friday: Big Maths Tests and Spelling tests will usually take place on a Friday morning. Homework will also be issued.
The first lesson of each day is Guided Group Reading, a session in which pupils work in small groups to improve their reading and understanding.
Every child has been placed in a group named after a famous children’s author (Roald Dahl, Michael Morpurgo, Jill Murphy, Francesca Simon and David Walliams).
Working in these groups, pupils either practise their handwriting, read a book, or a copy of the children’s newspaper First News, read aloud to a teacher or complete a follow-up piece of work they have been set.
Maths and English follow GGR every morning.
Lunch break for junior children is at 12.15pm.
The afternoon lessons throughout the week are divided into sessions for RE, Welsh, Context and science as well as ICT, Design and Technology and Art.
Every Tuesday afternoon the class spends time in the new IT suite to work on their computer skills with Mr Davies.
