Free School Meals
Currently, pupils in Reception, Year 1, Year 2 and Year 3 are able to have a free school meal everyday in school. This is known as universal school meals. All children in Year 4, 5 and 6 will be able to access these free meals over the next year are Cardiff Council are rolling out the universal scheme for all primary age children.
Parents can still apply to the council for what is known as 'free school meals' even though their child has access to a free meal already in school. By doing this, parents can access other financial support such as a uniform/ school equipment grant and free music lessons.
Our grant funding is also based on the number of children eligible for free school meals and so we are able to access more funding to support your child in school if parents have applied and are granted this.
